Defrag for Windows does laps around the default defragmentation software included with Windows, with a host of new features. Previously sold for US$20, this full version is yours free on this month's APC.
Although it doesn't present a detailed graphic of your hard drive's fragmentation, it runs faster because it runs itself directly from the command line when you reboot your PC. It also disconnects all processes running on the drive, and disables the Windows paging file during defragmentation. It even runs Scandisk or Chkdsk before defragmentation to make sure the drive's file structure is intact and running as it should be. With these added benefits over the default Windows defragmentation software, it defragments your drive much more efficiently and quickly.

instructions: To activate your full version of Defrag for Windows 1.0, install the program, then save the activation file to your desktop, and double-click it. Click 'Yes' or 'OK' to all following dialog boxes.
